~We come into each others lives for a reason~
I resisted doing any coaching around my health and wellbeing for years. I read books, I tried diets, and I spent a lot of time feeling like a failure. It just reinforced what I was already telling myself, that it was a hopeless endeavor. Then I met Tonya. From one conversation I knew she was the one for me. While I did lose 15 pounds in 16 weeks working with Tonya (over the holidays, no less!), what I gained was so much more! My mindset has altered in so many ways - I now choose to cook instead of avoiding it, because then I have full control of what goes in my body. I order healthy options at restaurants, park far away so I can get my steps in, and I'm constantly aware of how my body feels and tweaking my days based on that. Working with Tonya has shown me that it's not the big things, it's all the little things. Working with Tonya taught me I can still have the foods I want, and it has trained me to be mindful. I have this partnership with my body now, we work together, instead of me fighting against it and poisoning it. I have more weight to shed, and now I KNOW I can do it without sacrificing anything. The sustainable weight loss journey can be difficult. I’ve personally fought it for much of my adult life. My experience is that diets work great, but only for a period. I’d win for a while and then slowly gain back everything I worked so hard to lose. I was introduced to Tonya and quickly realized that her approach was different. She didn’t promise quick fixes, but she did promise lasting results if I agreed to make the commitment to trust her and work through the process. A process that included much more than the traditional calories in, calories out diet advice. In fact, there was no diet, but rather a focus on understanding why I struggled with an unhealthy weight followed by a slow discovery and “dialing in” of a sustainable eating pattern. There were no magic bullets and at times it wasn’t easy, but her holistic approach addressed the many aspects needed to maintain a healthy weight. Today, I enjoy the many benefits of maintaining a healthy weight with zero cravings and no restrictions to what I eat. Taking the step forward to invest in yourself can be difficult and scary. I know for myself, this is very true. We don’t think we deserve it or we think, I should just be able to do this myself. Working with Tonya was very comfortable and she helped me to frame my thinking around putting myself on my to do list. I am sure you have heard that one can’t pour from an empty cup; we need to fill ourselves up first. It’s not selfish to want to live your best life! Meditate on the ME I want to be. My higher self. What does she look like? What does she do? How does she feel? What does her inner dialogue sound like? And then slowly incorporate those healthy habits and thoughts. YOU taught me, as simple as it may sound, new habits need to be implemented slowly to ensure success. I hear your voice every day. As a wise man once said: Ch-Ch-Changes turn and face the strange… My journey at Indulge You has brought insight, clarity, challenges, guidance, education and a priority of wellness mentally and physical to my life. Tonya has a researched approach of support, education and very organized program to assist with Indulging in self. I connected with the tracking of food, activity and also the goals setting for the week. There is a component of gratitude, digging deeper emotionally and working through the challenges and setbacks. Also a Cognitive Behavioral aspect of working on changes and redirecting our mind to commit to the goals and joy WE want through this journey. Lifelong teachings, modules of self-contemplation and accountability via the coaching calls also included. It’s no secret that Tonya is the first friend of my life. We gained more wisdom from each other and support at a time when we both needed it. As a nutrition coach, we held to our roles with respect and had some humor along the way and humility.
